Today, I bundled up to go to the Library of Congress where I had planned to make big headway on a paper. But like so many of the best laid plans, this one didn't turn out exactly as I hoped and I ended up falling down a research rabbit hole and spending the day with my nose in a big stack of books while checking out this view (not too shabby! just don't tell the people in charge that I was breaking the rules and taking surreptitious photos). This outfit is just the kind of laid-back, simple look that I love: a crisp white button-up and corduroys (nerd staples) with a few pops of color. And of course, a nerdy book bag. Hope you have just the weekend you need, whether it's restful, fun, or productive--I'm hoping the weather clears up enough for a bike ride, and I have my heart set on some honeycrisp apples from the U St farmers' market (the best!).

I'm a bike-riding bookworm in DC trying to make better use of a sometimes-vanilla closet. You can read a little more about this blog

Love the color of that scarf. Definitely a cute and comfy looking outfit. :)
Hey! I attend school in Arlington, and live in MD. My first visit to the Library of Congress was this summer and it really is a breathtaking piece of architecture! It wasn't until I went to show off my iPhone pics to my instructor, that I realized photography was a no no!
what a beautiful library. holy cow. that's the perfectly put together little study outfit. like everyone else here, i love the scarf :)
Love the photo, and you're SO BRAVE for taking it!
Perfect ensemble for the LOC. Comfy enough to do some serious reading, but serious enough that the librarians listen to you. Lovely.
What a cool library to be studying in! I can definitely see how you would be distracted ...

You are so wonderfully full of life. I feel inspired every time I come over here. I feel the pain of paper writing right now too... so nice to know I am not alone.
Oh my, the Library of Congress, such a dream for bookworms like us! :)

Yeah, I could totally study at the Library of Congress every day.
And, that's a really cute scarf...perfect for a cozy, fall day.
Honeycrisp apples are amazing! It's like you're eating apple cider. I love the cowl!
That purple knitted scarf is too lovely for words! And I love how it pops against the neutrals of the rest of the outfit. Sounds like you have been spending your fall afternoons right! If you have any leftover apples, throw them together for an apple crisp. So yummy!

Love that scarf! And as a fellow postgrad. student I definitely agree that cords are the best thing ever! Looks put together but so much softer than denim, perfect for long hours at a desk!
Also, yay to you using instagram!! Following you now

You look great! That cowl is amazing!
Ha! There was just a twitter war over apple varieties.. I vote Red Delisious over Honeycrisp:) We're still cool right?
Such a lovely outfit. :)
Library porn! I could write the best work EVER in that place (she says with delusional hope)!
Love your nerd gear and chunky scarf. You look awesome, as always. Glad you got your apples in the end!
I don't really comment much, but I just wanted to say that out of all the fashion blogs I've been following for the past two years, I like yours best because I can actually wear the stuff you wear, it's just really realistic, especially for my climate (Michigan!). I'll admit I've copied an outfit or two of yours. :)
You look adorable! This is definitely the perfect study outfit and I love that cowl. The color is gorgeous on you :) Good luck on your apple hunt - honeycrisp is by far my favorite, too. My parents just brought a big bag of honeycrisp apples from Michigan when they came to visit last week and it was the best treat.
That cowl looks so comfy! Perfect study attire. I definitely need to get my hands on a cowl for this winter. Or maybe I should stop being so lazy and finally knit one, like I've been planning on for the past two years...
I love the color palette of this outfit - very cool, but still very autumn! Cute =).
