I found this great dress a few weekends ago--it cost about $2 and though it was a diamond in the rough when I picked it up, after some hemming and altering, I am really happy with it. It's 100% silk and altered to fit my proportions, so I feel like Jentine must every day--totally un-imitatable. Thrifting a great silk dress must be the 21st century sartorial equivalent of the paleolithic people hunting down a really huge, delicious elk. I feel the pride of a hunter, so I am especially chuffed to have gotten several compliments on this yesterday.

Only $2? What a great find!
Gorgeous dress! This is my dream vintage find...must look more diligently.
you are so cute! i love this dress so much! did you hem/alter it yourself? i love this whole ensemble actually!
:)
GORGEOUS dress. I love it with the cardigan. Congratulations on finding it! Did you hem and alter it yourself, or did you have it done? I'm a sewing novice, and I'm wondering how difficult silk is to work with - not that I have $2 silk dresses just lying around, but maybe someday :)

For some reason, "really huge, delicious elk" has got me all giggling.
Also, you look fabulous. What a find!
I love the dress - what a perfect thrift find!

Your dress is very pretty! Would you ever consider doing a before/after with some of your alterations? I'd love to see what you do with them! :)
Better Than A Milk Mustache
Gorgeous find! Looks like something you would see at Anthro. I am envious of your sewing skills.
That dress is fabulous. I fixed one up recently, too. Posted about it today, actually. :-)
I thrifted a silk blouse with the tags still on the other day so I totally know what you mean.
i had the alterations done at my local tailor. silk really shows mistakes and i liked the dress a lot so i wanted to get it done right. PLUS, i needed to take the waist up and replace the elastic and i wasn't quite sure how to do that.
angela--i totally should have done before/after shots!! kicking myself now!
haha! i love your metaphor. you definitely slayed it in that dress.
You should feel the pride of the hunter! That is a fantastic dress!! What a great find - and I love how you styled - so perfectly springy :)

What a gorgeous find! So many of your recent outfits have me longing for the land of great thrift stores - guess I'll be forced to drown my sorrows in brie.
Oh my! What a gorgeous dress, Tania! I like it a lot! I wish I could find clothes for less than $10, hehe... Lucky girl!

Huge, delicious elk... That is good stuff Tania! But a excellent comparison... now the fact that I call thrifting 'hunting' has even deeper meaning. Nicely done! Love the dress!
That dress is wonderful! I love how you styled it, you are such a beauty!
oooh, silk for a few dollars! lucky you.

Such a fantastic dress! I've been looking for something similar but to no avail. Thrifting is definitely comparable to hunting!
Hey! Great outfit! Did you notice it's quite similar to what Kate Middleton was wearing yesterday ... http://news.ninemsn.com.au/glanceview/161256/kates-final-wedding-preparations.glance

I absolutely love that dress, and what a bargain. England needs to get with the US and sell cheap.
