Okay, I majorly borrowed inspiration for today's outfit, from this gorgeous photo from Jigsaw that I found at You Are My Fave:
I love the combo of gray, black, and lemony yellow. And despite not having the model's rad metallic belt and heels (not to mention her fabulous legs and adorable bangs), I think I pulled off the general feel. And I'm doing one of E. from Academichic's favorite combos: yellow+gray=grellow.

This skirt is a really inexpensive foldover jersey skirt from Old Navy that I hiked up and (surprise!!) belted at the waist. Is it just me, or do high-waisted skirts feel more grown-up?

Thanks for all your well wishes yesterday! I am feeling mostly better, but poor Christopher is still in bed with a fever, his glassy eyes glued to ESPN :)

Oh Wow! Done to perfection! Love it!!! :)
I love the way you styled the skirt! I have several of those, but I always feel kind of sloppy when I wear them. Next time, I'm trying this!
Your version is prettier <3 I love your heels. I'm glad you're better and I hope C. gets better soon :)
Beijos and have a great day Tania!
Pretty! I like your version better too, I think it's the skirt and thin little belt.
Great recreation! It's so cute!
This is really pretty! I am going to borrow your inspiration as well =]
Just Better Together
I love this outfit!! You look great! I'm wearing yellow and grey today too, but no black. I feel like I am missing an important staple in my closet by not having a black pencil skirt.
gray and yellow - love the combo!
Very chic and modern color combo! And I'm with you on the high waists - I love both high-waisted skirts and pants and definitely feel more like a grownup big girl in both!
You look awesome -- what a fun combo to try out!
I just found your blog through Wild and Precious and I must say that I love it, especially the fact that your use the phrase "Works Cited". Made my little English Major heart flutter :)
We must think alike, because I am doing grey and yellow today too! Too funny :) Love your rendition! Again, it's the simple, comfy chic look I love! Great idea to hike up the simple jersey skirt and turn it into a high-waisted one!
Glad you're feeling better! Love the photo location too!
Small Time Style
Love your idea of hiking up an old fold-over skirt! You look great!!
I freaking love grellow. And the skirt is fab.
glad to hear you are feeling better. I love the grellow!

I love these colors together! Actually thinking about re-doing my apartment using grey and yellow for the wall paint.
I love this! Awesome inspiration, thanks!
I LOVe your take on this look. The lemon yellow cardigan is just perfection (I know I've said that before!).
i love it! you totally pulled if off. i love these colors together too. i have that skirt in navy and I never thought to hike it up! it gives it a totally different look.
*golf clap*
I think you've nailed the look and the color combo is one of my faves as well!
Yes, yes, yes, grey and yellow are an excellent color combination. Since yellow is my favorite color, I have quite a few yellow+ color combinations that I'm fond of. Mustard and navy is another favorite. :)
I like it! The colors look great.
I agree that high waisted skirts just seem better overall :p
Love how that yellow POPed the outfit! :)

Love this outfit!
SO pretty!
Wow, T, I must say I am so impressed. The belt is a genius addition to the fold-over skirt. Way to go! I will probably copy this....just so you know ;)
Hope you are doing well! You look lovely as always!
i do think high-waist skirts are maybe a teensy more professional? maybe i just feel more professional because i am unconsciously holding my belly in? lol!
I like your version better ^_^
I've never thought of those colors together. I love it!
Hey! I just found your blog and I'm really glad I did! I love your style and I'm always fascinated by blogs that feature clothing, it's such an inpiration. That's why I like blogs more than (for example) high fashion magazines, as you can see what and how to wear in real life, not only to fancy parties. And your blog is a great example! :)
Pity that my blogs are in Estonian, but if you're interested you can still check them out. :)
greatttt outfit!!! :DD
xoxo
Yes, the colour combination is gorgeous and so fresh. The gray makes the yellow more 'lemony'. You did a great job taking the inspiration and creating your own outfit ...I think I'll also try!

I completely agree that high waisted skirts look more grown-up. Great things happen when you combine grey and yellow. You just can't go wrong with those colors together.
